My heart was a gift
Wrapped in red ribbon
sealed by warm love.
A little scratch here and there
But still precious
I gave my gift away
To whom I thought was the highest bidder,
I told them to be careful
"Please ... do not drop it"
My heart was all I had
I knew it was too heavy
It had been injected with sensitivity and serenity,
Coaxed in feelings that would make your finger tips sticky. . .
I should have known My heart would be too much for you,
Too big for you to hold.
And damn sure too loving for you to have,
I thought my heart was just enough . . .
but you couldn't handle that.
